New Feature

Improved font picker
We're giving you more ways to style your text.
Take a look at the Design tab in your right-hand
panel. Font Weight has been renamed Font Style
and now includes all available styles for our
default fonts, including italics, which were
previously only available via our inline editor.
Now you have more ways to take regular ideas
and present them in a bold way that others
won't take lightly.

New Feature

Better duplication
Imitation is the sincerest form of attery. We're
making it easier to atter your colleagues by
improving how presentations are duplicated.
Previously, duplicating a presentation would
wipe the title, instead giving it the enigmatic
name of Untitled Presentation. From now on,
when you duplicate presentation it will keep the
original title and add Copy of in front.

We've rolled out some performance updates to
improve your entire Pitch experience.
Major highlights include:
• Fixes related to renaming, moving, and duplicating
presentations and templates
• Fixes related to switching workspaces
• A major reduction in the amount of bandwidth used
when Pitch is running.
• Lots of behind-the-scenes work and code cleanup
that sets the stage for further optimizations

Improvement

macOS app is Catalina-ready
Catalina is nice this time of year, don't you think?
The Pitch macOS app is now notarized and
should open on macOS Catalina without
displaying any extra security warnings. You
might still see a pop-up indicating that the le
was downloaded from the internet — that's
okay!

Bug Fixes

🐛 PDF export should work as expected.

We've xed a few pesky bugs related to PDF exports. From now on, you
should be able to use the Pitch desktop app to successfully export both
large and small presentation les as PDFs.

◻ Width and height for square and circle shapes will now match.

This is the type of bug that will make a perfectionist's eye twitch. The height of
square and circle shapes was consistently one pixel more than the width. With
this x, the width and height will always be the same.

📊 Charts will render correctly in style editor and PDF exports.

Charts weren't completely rendering in the style editor and PDF exports,
causing some confusion and frustration. This has been xed, so you'll always
see charts in all their data-loving glory.

Bug Fixes

🖼 Aspect ratio for images dragged onto canvas will be locked by default.
Previously, images dragged onto your slide canvas would have an unlocked
aspect ratio. That meant that using the selection box to resize the image
could crop out essential parts. Now, by default, your images will have a
locked aspect ratio, but you can always change this in the Design tab.

📏 Slide canvas should always be correctly sized for the viewport.

We've taken some steps to improve canvas resizing. Now the canvas area
will automatically adjust so that it's perfectly sized for the viewport.

🧠 Smart Swapping no longer breaks when double-clicked.

Smart Swapping had a bit of a duh moment this past week. Double-clicking
on the swap handler would prevent users from grabbing and swapping
blocks. We've xed this, so swap to your heart's content.

Bug Fixes

🔗 Links no longer jump when their text block is edited.

Editing a text block with hyperlinked text would lead to the link jumping
over a space. We've made some updates to text wrapping that will
prevent this jump from happening in the future.

✂ Small images like logos no longer crop incorrectly when resized.

Previously we enforced a minimum height and width for image blocks.
This contributed to small images like logos accidentally cropping when
sized down. We've removed minimum size requirements, which should
prevent unwanted cropping from occurring.

⏰ Invalid session modal should appear less frequently.

Several Mac users reported receiving an Invalid Session modal, which would
subsequently force them to sign out of Pitch. With this x, the app will try to
refresh the access token before showing a modal to the user.

Bug Fixes

📝 Shared presentations can be edited by others.

Users reported having trouble editing presentations shared from other
workspaces. From now on, edits made to a shared presentation will be
visible to all users.

🔠 Font size will always display the correct value.

We encountered a bug where text blocks of noticeably different sizes
had the same font size value in the right-hand panel. This has been xed
so that the font size value will always match the actual size.
