How Pitch uses AI
Here’s an overview of how Pitch uses artificial intelligence within its product.
Overview
Pitch is a presentation platform for teams that rely on decks to win work. AI powers specific features that help you create and edit slides. The rest of the product - collaboration, design, sharing, and presenting - works without it.
AI runs only when you ask it to.
AI-powered features
1. Pitch Agent
Pitch Agent is an assistant you chat with inside a presentation. You describe what you want and it builds or changes slides for you.
Agent can create a first draft from a prompt, add slides from your templates, rewrite the text on a slide, and restructure, reorder, or delete slides. You can keep refining through follow-up messages.
You can attach files - PDFs, images, CSVs, and text files - for Agent to use as context. Attachments are stored in Pitch and sent to the AI provider handling your request.
Agent only reads the presentation you have open and the files you attach. Everything it produces is fully editable, and you’re expected to review it.
2. Image tools
Pitch includes AI image features: generating an image from a description, removing or blurring a background, replacing a background, expanding an image beyond its original edges, and increasing image resolution.
When generating a new image, Pitch sends existing images from your presentation along with your description, so the result matches the look of the deck. They’re used as a style reference only - for qualities like lighting, color, and mood - and never as subject matter.
These run only when you explicitly request them. They’re handled by fal.ai, a third-party AI service specializing in image tasks. You can find fal’s terms of service here and privacy policy here.
3. Connecting Pitch to other AI apps
Pitch offers an MCP server, which lets AI apps you already use - such as Claude or ChatGPT - work with your Pitch content on your behalf.
You connect an app by signing in and granting it access. Once connected, it can search your presentations, read and create decks, manage share links, and view link analytics, all within the permissions of your own Pitch account.
This only happens if you set up the connection. Nothing is shared with an outside AI app until you do, and you can disconnect at any time.
AI providers we use
Pitch doesn’t train or host its own models. We send requests to established AI providers:
- Anthropic, OpenAI, and Google for text and reasoning - the models behind Pitch Agent. Some Anthropic models are served through AWS Bedrock in the EU.
- fal.ai for image generation and editing.
We choose models for quality and reliability and may change which one handles a given feature.
Data handling and privacy
AI runs only when you engage with it. Pitch doesn’t analyze your presentations in the background, and there’s no AI processing of your content unless you start it.
Your presentation data isn’t used to train AI models.
Feedback reaches our team. If you rate an Agent response or send feedback, your comment and the related conversation are shared with the Pitch team so we can improve the product. Feedback is never sent automatically.
All AI processing is conducted in accordance with Pitch’s data protection and privacy standards.
Controlling AI in your workspace
Workspace admins can turn Pitch AI off for everyone under workspace settings. When it’s off, AI features are unavailable across the workspace, including any new ones we release.
AI usage is measured in credits included with your plan. See our guide to AI credits for details.
External sharing
When presentations are shared externally - via shared links, exports, or downloads - no AI is involved in generating, transmitting, or displaying those documents.
Shared documents are static and reflect your own content at the time of sharing. Pitch doesn’t use AI to analyze, modify, or monitor externally shared materials.
Summary
Pitch uses AI in limited, user-initiated ways to help you create and edit slides. You choose when it runs, admins can switch it off, and your content isn’t used to train models.
