This inexpensive diner-style restaurant has been a fixture in Mission since 1967, and the deécor and menu still reflect the sensibility of the Beatles era: bright lights, leatherette booths and food that really sticks to your ribs. In the ‘60s, no one blinked at ordering a breakfast platter of chicken-fried steak smothered in country gravy with two eggs and a side order of strawberry pancakes topped with whipped cream. Customers still order that kind of breakfast at Village Inn, which is one of the few restaurants left that still serves crepes and blintzes. Dinner offerings include old-fashioned dishes such as grilled liver and onions, Salisbury steak and pot roast.
