It's pretty obvious why Lewis and Clark, when they arrived at Kaw Point on June 26, 1804, decided to take a few days of respite. Located at the confluence of the Kansas and Missouri rivers, the six-acre point offers breathtaking views of the wide, churning channels. These days there's even more to look at. Across the water glitters the eastern profile of Kansas City, Missouri, and the park itself has a perfectly manicured lawn for catching rays or flying kites. There are sandy walking trails beneath a shady canopy of trees serene enough to make you forget you are smack dab in the middle of the bustling industrial area of KCK. There's even a pubic boat ramp for those wanting to pay homage to ol' Lewis and Clark by getting in the water.
