Catch a load of prison mug shots at the Kansas City Public Library's Central Branch (14 West 10th Street, 816-701-3400). Developed by the National Archives, the exhibit Mugged! A Rogue's Gallery of Leavenworth Penitentiary Mug Shots features turn-of-the-century images depicting criminals of all castes and skill levels. Kenneth M. LaMaster, who worked as a corrections officer and is now a prison historian, lectures at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday as part of the exhibit. LaMaster, author of a new book, U.S. Penitentiary (Images of America), will discuss the history of the Leavenworth Penitentiary and some of the famous inmates incarcerated there. The photographs are on display through July 20. Admission is free. Call 816-701-3407 for more information.
